ILA Foundation LBG (Limited by Guarantee), founded by Chief Williams in 2018, is a not-for-profit international group of humanitarians for Preservation of Indigenous Languages: Africa as prescribed by the United Nations Indigenous Language Year 2019 in concert with the United Nations Declaration Rights of Indigenous Peoples (DRIPS). Our mission is one of humanitarian interest, to uplift the status associated with African Languages whether at home, in education, and in society. In no way does this pose to eliminate mainstream languages; however, translation and interpretation of these languages help build greater understanding and respect for their use and value, as with any other Continent or Nation, is vital.
To highlight the importance and status associated with African languages, “We are the fabric, a network, by which culture, talent & human interest are combined.”
It’s about… DIGNITY, RESPECT & VALUE
The ILA Foundation LBG has garnered the interest of several countries regarding the importance of preserving Indigenous Languages: Africa, with effective engagement in programs/projects that can be translated into local languages. This includes but is not limited to:
- Education
- Trade & Industry
- Women’s Empowerment
- Youth Development
- Entrepreneurship
